Why Do I Wake Up Thinking About Work? A Morning Routine for Women Entrepreneurs

Why Do I Wake Up Thinking About Work? A Morning Routine for Women Entrepreneurs

There are mornings when I haven’t even gotten out of bed and somehow I’m already at work.

Did that order ship?

I need to answer that email.

What am I posting today?

I need to follow up with her.

Did I ever send that invoice?

Ma’am.

We just woke up.

If you’re a woman entrepreneur, there’s a good chance you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Running a business can make it incredibly easy for the line between your time and work time to disappear.

Your phone is beside your bed. Your email is on your phone. Your customers can reach you through social media. Your to-do list lives in your head.

So technically, you can start working the second you open your eyes.

But just because you can doesn’t mean you have to.

That’s why I started taking 10 minutes for myself

I’m not interested in creating another complicated morning routine.

I’m definitely not waking up two hours earlier so I can complete 17 activities before sunrise.

I wanted something I could actually maintain.

So I started with something I was already doing:

Making coffee.

Before checking everything.

Before solving everything.

Before figuring out what everybody needs from me.

I make my coffee and give myself 10 minutes.

That’s what became Me Time Morning™.

What is a Me Time Morning™?

It’s simply 10 minutes between waking up and starting your responsibilities.

No productivity requirement.

You don’t have to journal.

You don’t have to meditate.

You don’t have to make a gratitude list.

And you definitely don’t have to turn those 10 minutes into another thing you have to accomplish.

Make your coffee.

Sit down.

Drink it while it’s hot for once.

That’s enough.

And yes, the coffee matters

If coffee is going to anchor those 10 minutes, I want the coffee to be worth slowing down for.

That’s one of the reasons I created Me Time Coffee, an online specialty coffee company built around freshly roasted coffee and intentional morning rituals.

Because the ritual matters.

And so does what’s in your cup.

Ready to try it tomorrow morning? Choose the coffee you actually want to wake up to and start your first Me Time Morning™.

And if you’re another woman entrepreneur whose brain likes to clock in before you do, follow @metimecoffee_co on Instagram. You’re going to fit right in.
